ULTIMO ADDIO
Titolo originale: Death with dignity
Testo e musica: Sufjan Stevens
© Sufjan Stevens Music / BMG Gold Songs

The music and the poetry of Sufjan Stevens are one of my biggest sources of inspiration. I therefore thought of paying tribute
to the American artist with a cover of Death with dignity, a great song that tells in touching verses the loss of Carrie, his mother.
To be consistent with my artistic path, I decided to sing it in Italian. The very delicate and personal topic hid many pitfalls to avoid.
I worked on the translation and the adaptation in talian language with Stefano di Martino offering all the sensivity and the respect that the work deserves.
The four handed production and mix of the song was made together with Livio Lanzetta at the Blue bell project studio involving Riccardo Marconi at the guitar,
Dario Viesti at the drums and Pasquale Benincasa at the marimba.
The videoclip was made by Simone Brillarelli and Bianca De Magistris with the participation of Lorella Mannori and Livia De Magistris.
Since we intervened translating – changing in some way the original song – it took a long and hard work of contacts research, email exchanges
and a long waiting time to discover if our version was approved by the publishing: BMG Gold songs, US.
It was a great emotion to find in my email box the message with the permission to publish the song.
I am two times happy because the birth of this cover with relative video clip has moved creativity and commitment of people I love too much and to whom I owe so much.
It’s done, guys!
Now we can finally make you listen.

lyrics

Voce del mio cuore, io ti sento
con un po' di spavento
e non so come farò e non so come farò
C'è da qualche parte nel deserto
il mio piccolo bosco
ma non so come farò, ma non so come farò
di nuovo ho perso le mie forze
stammi accanto, vecchia mia
che nel vento vai via

Sarà vero quel che adesso vedo
non è certo un segreto
un amico è un amico per me
e qui tutti sappiamo com'è
Angelo che mi riporti indietro
sotto l'ombra del cedro
la tua ultima voce qual è
la tua ultima voce qual è
la luce irrompe fin qua dentro
resto fermo ora qui e va bene così

Ti perdona madre, già ti sento
vorrei esserti accanto
ma so dove finisce la via
ecco dove finisce la via
sfuma fra i salici quell'ombra
piume rosse, un razzolio
per un ultimo addio
per un ultimo addio
